About the Owner:
Ava Flanell was born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she grew up in an
entrepreneurial family that owned several businesses, including a firearms store and shooting
range. After graduating from a local charter high school, she moved to New York City to attend
Fordham University, completing degrees in English and Communications in just three years. She
then began her career working for the New York Yankees.
In 2012, Flanell returned to Colorado to film a tv show about her family’s business. During the
visit, she received her first formal shooting lesson from her mother, a firearms instructor, and
quickly demonstrated a natural aptitude. Tragically, that same week, her mother passed away in a
horrific accident. Flanell moved back to Colorado to be closer to her family and to help maintain
the family business her mother had worked so hard to build. During this period, she committed
herself to learning every aspect of the firearms industry. Inspired by her mother’s legacy and
recognizing the need for more female representation in the field, she pursued certification as a
firearms instructor. She became dedicated to empowering women through education, training,
and access to the tools necessary for personal safety.
In 2017, Flanell founded a marketing and media company focused on elevating and humanizing
leading voices within the firearms industry, while also educating audiences outside the firearms
community. This role enabled her to travel across the country, attend key events, tour facilities,
and gain a deeper understanding of the industry.
More than a decade later, both of Flanell’s businesses continue to thrive, having equipped and
educated thousands of individuals. In recent years, she has expanded her efforts into local
politics, advocating for the industry and for Colorado citizens. Her leadership has been widely
recognized. In 2025 alone, she received multiple honors, including Woman of the Year from Gun
Owners of America’s Empowered 2A program, the Charlie Kirk Defender of Freedom Award
from the Colorado State Shooting Association, and the Defender of Liberty Award from the
Second Amendment Foundation.
In 2025, Flanell was asked to run for State House Representative for House District 14 after her
former Representative resigned. Flanell ran in the vacancy committee elections twice and won.
In October 2025, she was sworn in as a Colorado State House Representative.
